Kouzenji
興禅寺は、宇都宮市にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院です。
境内は、甘酒地蔵（子育地蔵）、睦観音様、千手観音堂、天神（北河原天神）等を御祀りしており、
これらの仏様を中心に当山と縁ある文人の歌碑、句碑のある緑あふれる庭苑となっております
Kōzen-ji is a temple of the Rinji sect of Myōshinji sect located in the city of Utsunomiya.
The precinct enshrines Amazake Jizo (Child-Raising Jizo), Mutsukannon-sama, Senju Kannondo, Tenjin (Kitagawara Tenjin), etc.,
Centered on these Buddhas, it has become a garden full of greenery with a poem monument of literati related to this mountain, a haiku Monument.
〇公家や武家を中心に広まったことで、臨済宗をはじめとする禅宗は日本の文化である、茶道・華道・書道・武道・絵画・庭園などにも深く影響をもたらしたことから、禅宗文化とも呼ばれています。
〇鎌倉時代後期から室町時代にかけて、たくさんの渡来僧により日本に禅宗が広まり隆盛を極めました。臨済宗は特に公家や武家に好まれ、京都や鎌倉を中心に多くの臨済宗の寺院が建立されました。
〇臨済宗は臨済義玄によって開宗され、鎌倉時代に日本に伝えられた宗派です。

Rinzai sect
Rinzai sect was founded by Rinzai Gigen and was introduced to Japan during the Kamakura period.
From the late Kamakura period to the Muromachi period, Zen sect spread to Japan by many migratory monks and flourished. Rinzai sect was particularly favored by public houses and samurai, and many Rinzai sect temples were built mainly in Kyoto and Kamakura.
Zen sect, including Rinzai sect, has had a profound influence on Japanese culture, such as tea ceremony, flower arranging, calligraphy, martial arts, painting, gardens, etc., and is also called Zen sect culture.
